BECA Goes International Again!
Students who enroll in BECA 580 - Media and Community Service - for the Spring 2009 semester will spend the semester preparing for an international trip - this time, to Delhi, India! Students in the spring class will produce a video for a local community organization to help that organization advance its goals. Simultaneously, they will learn about India through presentations by guest speakers, readings, and other sources. Then, in mid-June, they will depart for a three-and-a-half week trip to India, where they will produce a video for an NGO (non-governmental organization) to help that organization advance its goals. Although the specific NGO in India has not been selected yet, faculty have been in communication with three different organizations in and around Delhi. Professor Betsy Blosser, who has taken earlier groups of BECA students to Peru, Brazil, Thailand and, most recently, Guatemala, will teach the class with Professor Vinay Shrivastava, who grew up in India and who retains many contacts there. Check this site for updates on the class and the students.
