Production and the World Cup

Here we are in El Salvador during the World Cup. El Salvador is a soccer-crazy country even though the E.S. team has been suspended from play in this year's competition. It would appear that watching a game takes precedence over everything else. On the day we went to the National University, our timetable revolved around that day's game between Spain and Chile. We had to leave the university in time for our Salvadoran guide to see at least part of that game. Yesterday, on the way back from Joya de Ceren, we stopped "to have a drink" en route back to the hotel to be able to see the end of the U.S. vs. Ghana game. And this morning, as soon as our interview with a Catholic University professor, held at the hotel, was over, we had to turn the television back on to catch up with the ongoing game. This is a great window into this part of Salvadoran culture.
