Screening for International Education Week
The BECA Department will join the Office of International Programs in celebrating International Education Week by holding a second screening of the videotapes produced by BECA students in El Salvador in the summer of 2010. The screening will be held on Thursday, November 18th, from 11:30 AM to 1:00 PM in CA 116.
Students enrolled in BECA 580, Media in Community Service, traveled to El Salvador during the summer of 2010 to shoot a video for Manos de Esperanza, or "Hands of Hope," a non-governmental organization (NGO) based in Antioch, CA, and San Salvador, El Salvador. Manos de Esperanza asked students to design the video both to increase donations to the organization, and to familiarize a younger generation with the history of violence in the country.
BECA students ended up shooting two videos for the NGO - a short piece to be used on the Manos website and a longer piece to be used in presentations. Both videos will be shown at the November 18th screening.
Join us for this screening - the second for these videos produced by the talented group of BECA students!
